This is Sarah, my cousin, friend, and basically, the sister my mom didn’t give me.

Her home is somewhere in the middle of Indiana and she’s survived fifteen and a half years with two older brothers.

Sarah came to visit a few weeks ago and we ended up venturing out into the forest preserve for a golden hour photoshoot.

There’s a fearless quality about Sarah that I admire. In track and field this past spring, she tried pole-vaulting which is terrifying for me to even think about.

I think she said she was first in her JV conference and that takes some fearlessness.

A daredevil and a goofball, this one never fails to make me laugh.

After our adventure through the forest, we took a long drive around the suburbs screaming along to those old scream-worthy songs.

Kesha’s song, “Tik Tok”, was on our car ride set list.

I think one of my favorite memories with Sarah is when we made a dance to that classic jam. We spent all night choreographing our routine and thinking we were the next best dance duo.

I have loved watching this girl slowly grow up, even though, sometimes, it feels like just the other day I was a kid helping feed her Cheerios in a high chair.

Love you, Sarah.~kj
